Re: [Organic_Gardening] Rabbit Problem

Hi, James -

I don't have experience with keeping rabbits out, but I do have some with keeping my wolf hybrid IN. She was too old to jump the fence at our new place, but did try to dig out under the gates a number of times. Since determined dogs can dig considerably better than determined rabbits, I would think that what worked for me should do the same for you.

Under one gate, I placed 1x1 foot pavers next to each other. Worked perfectly. Under another gate, I put 1" pea gravel. The pea gravel was probably only 2-3" deep, and is what I had on hand at the time. However, an irregular gravel would probably work better, as it tends to lock together. So driveway gravel, or perhaps shellack, depending upon your location. I don't think you'd need any more than a 6" depth, and 12" out from your barrier.

Best of luck!

Linda
