I have a friend that used a rabbit box and tuna to catch the cats.
If cats had contact info, he called owner to come get cats and show them what their pets were doing.
 
Cats without ID or returning cats were either turn over to animal control or relocated at least 5 miles away.
 
It depends how important the cat's owners are to you.
 
Want to avoid the confict? Relocate the first time. Quietly.
