Yes, yes, yes.
Protect those plants with some type of netting or row cover until they can
fend for themselves. Birds will also pluck the corn just as it is
emerging to get the kernel. When we had lots of crows, (the West Nile Virus
killed a big percentage of them off) they had a field day in our gardens playing
havoc with emerging beans and corn.
