[MittleiderMethodGardening] {MittleiderMethodGardening] Newbie Questions

Hi. I live in Austin, Texas, and our soil is evidently known for being
very "basic", so I have been told to feed the soil with coffee grinds.

But of course with this method I don't need to worry with that.
However, my first question has to do with gypsum vs. lyme (was that
it?) for both placing in the bottom of grow boxes and using as the pre-
plant mix.

I used gypsum. Did I get that right?

And my second question: I prepped a box for seedlings (soil-less grow
box this time). And then it rained. Since I knew the forecast I
forestalled the seedling plant. Do I need to re-do the pre-plant and
fertilizer addition that is advised before I place the seedlings in
the grow box?

Thank you,
Cara

Cara & Group:

You do NOT need to use coffee grounds on your soil. Just use the Pre-Plant using gypsum (and of course Epsom Salt and Borax - the ratio is 80-4-1) both on the ground BEFORE filling the box with soil-mix and IN the soil-mix along with Weekly Feed.

If you prepared the soil in the box with Pre-Plant and Weekly Feed you do NOT need to put it in again. It lasts through many waterings, so one will not make an appreciable difference. Go ahead and plant your seedlings.
